Every month we will check out a new waterway so you will have a new place to try and kayak.
This month we went to Watson Lake, located in the Prescott area. The lake is four miles north of downtown Prescott at 3101 N State Route 89.
Amenities include two boat launches, access to fishing, picnic ramadas, showers for campers, horseshoe pits, picnic tables, playground equipment, and hiking trails.
This is a smaller lake that covers about 380 acres, which worked out for a perfect short day of kayaking. Throughout the lake are large rock boulders, some scattered about and some stacked on top of each other, which made for a nice day of kayaking around all the rock outcroppings.
A group of 4 of us went up to Prescott for the day for a little BBQ and fishing from the kayak action.
We spent a few hours fishing and caught some sunfish and a cat fish. I'm told there are also large mouth, carp, and crapie in the lake.
I would definitely recommend this lake for a nice day trip, especially to beat the heat of Phoenix. Good scenery and a short drive.
Check back soon to see a new place to get out and enjoy Arizona!
